Arcane Dimension comes from United States and it is the new project from Jarek Tatarek from the legendary Polish thrashers Astharoth. Here we will a different "face" of Jarek, with Arcane Dimension they give to us a more melodic way of the gothic metal music.
"In Ecstasy and Sorrow" is the title of their debut album and it has eleven songs. Arcane Dimension released it in a very good digi-pack version and with the very beautiful music we will travel to some other lands of our history. The album has almost one hour of pure gothic / atmospheric metal in the vein of Theater of Tragedy and The Gathering of course through the personal prism of Arcane Dimension.
Their compositions are well worked with some very interesting moments but with some usual elements for a gothic / atmospheric metal release. The thing that I liked in the album from Arcane Dimension was the fact that they tried to be unique to play this kind of music with their personal point of view and it some way they have achieved that.

Arcane Dimension from the lovely San Francisco present their first disc. The band –or more likely the project- features Jarek Tatarek (guitar) and Teresa Camp (vocals, guitar) and it moves in the atmospheric gothic metal paths. I must admit that by the first listening of the c.d., I was pleasantly surprised. On the one hand, we meet the sweet atmosphere of The Gathering, while the superlative, neo-classical and dark Lacrimosa aura is always present in the album. After Forever and Edenbridge seem to be two other influential outfits for Arcane Dimension. Jarek’s and Teresa’s melodies are unbelievably sweet and beautiful, while the production and the arrangement touches the perfect point. It is no wonder that the groups dispalys from its debut an original wholesome sound. There are no fillers in the record and the majority of the songs, without an exaggeration, stand out (“In Ecstasy & Sorrow”, Somwhere Nowhere”, The Art Of Dreaming”, ”Never”, “Questioning Lies”, “Echoes” και “Whale’s Cry”).
Dimitris Kazantzis - Rock Pages Greece (Nov 29, 2006)
Superb Gothic Rock/Metal with a blackened, smothering atmosphere that harkens back to an era when bands like Theatre Of Tragedy played actual metal. (For the record, guitarist Jarek played in the obscure late-80’s Polish Thrash band, Astharoth).
In actuality, though, this will prove of greater liking to the Death Rock-loving Cleopatra Records crowd than the average Metal fan. In this sense, the album’s somewhat underground production lends it an authenticity that a slick, polished production would otherwise rob it of.
Vocally, this has more in common with Switchblade Symphony than The Gathering. This is darker than the standard Lacuna Coil clone, but less metallic than the standard Napalm Records act. Guitar-wise, it’s somewhere between Katatonia and Corpus Delicti—but it’s the way these riffs come together that lend it such a crushing atmosphere, and ultimately make it work.
Fans of Inkubus Sukkubus and The Shroud—or female-fronted Goth Rock of an organic nature, in general—will find themselves enveloped in this.
